Editorial Associate

Hours: Part-Time or Full-Time

Roadmap Advisors is looking for a highly motivated and intellectually curious Editorial Assistant to help develop and publish compelling content about M&A, entrepreneurship, finance, and business. The Editorial Assistant will work closely with firm leadership and our outside agency to turn ideas, research, conversations, and transaction experience into thoughtful, engaging content for articles, social media, newsletters, and other publications.

We are enthusiastic adopters of AI and expect our team to use it to research faster, explore ideas, challenge assumptions, and become better and more productive writers. At the same time, we believe the explosion of generic, AI-generated content makes original thinking, authentic voices, rigorous research, and great writing more valuable than ever. We are looking for someone who embraces AI as a tool while passionately resisting the wave of AI slop flooding the internet.

Responsibilities

  • Research topics related to M&A, entrepreneurship, private equity, finance, and business
  • Develop research, statistics, examples, anecdotes, and case studies to support articles and other content
  • Turn notes, interviews, transcripts, and rough ideas into well-organized first drafts
  • Edit articles and other written materials for structure, clarity, grammar, accuracy, and style
  • Develop and edit social media content, particularly for LinkedIn, and help build Roadmap’s social media presence
  • Adapt longer-form articles and research into compelling short-form social media content
  • Identify interesting topics, timely conversations, and opportunities for Roadmap to contribute an original perspective
  • Fact-check content and verify sources and supporting data
  • Assist with longer-form research and writing projects
  • Prepare content for the Roadmap website, newsletters, social media, and other channels
  • Help maintain an editorial calendar and manage content from initial idea through publication
  • Experiment with AI tools and workflows that make our research, writing, editing, and content development better and more efficient without sacrificing originality or quality

Qualifications

  • Outstanding writing and editing skills, with an ability to make complicated subjects interesting and easy to understand
  • Excellent research skills and intellectual curiosity across a wide variety of subjects
  • A strong and authentic writing voice, with an instinct for recognizing the difference between compelling writing and generic content
  • Enthusiasm for AI and curiosity about how emerging tools can improve research, writing, and creative work
  • Strong judgment about when to use AI, when not to use it, and an unwillingness to substitute AI-generated prose for original thought
  • Highly organized, extremely detail-oriented, proactive, and dependable
  • Strong judgment regarding credible sources, evidence, and factual accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
  • Interest in business, entrepreneurship, finance, economics, investing, or related subjects
  • Comfortable receiving direct editorial feedback and revising work accordingly
  • Bachelor’s degree from a good school, with great grades
  • Degrees in English, journalism, history, economics, political science, communications, philosophy, or related fields may be particularly relevant
  • Prior professional agency, writing, journalism, editing, research, communications, or social media experience is preferred
